One of the advantages of the Jack, Joseph & Morton Mandel Honors College is that you will feel like part of a small, tight-knit community even amidst the buzz of a large, four-year, public university.
While on campus, students in the Honors College can pass time between classes in our student lounge or computer lab. The computer lounge offers computers in private carousels along with access to a printer. The student lounge offers comfy furniture, access to storage lockers, a phone charging station and friendly interactions with other students. This is also a great place to practice your Wii skills by challenging other Honors College students to bowling, tennis, or golf. Finally, no visit to the lounge is complete without taking in the fantastic view of campus from the first floor of Main Classroom.
Community is also built among the students who choose to live on the Honors College floors in the residence halls. Each year floors are set aside just for Honors College students and friendships form fast. These friendships carry on into the classroom with our selection of Honors general education requirements. Every semester, we offer an array of Honors general education classes, ranging from Introduction to Poetry to University Physics and many in between. These are small classes (15-20 students) taught by some of the best instructors on campus; you'll get to know your teacher and your fellow students in a stimulating intellectual environment.
Outside of the classroom, Honors College students are involved in a variety of student organizations; from honor societies to Greek life, students in the Honors College find ways to become part of the many communities on campus. Honors College students also participate in numerous volunteer opportunities. Others take advantage of volunteer opporttunities and service learning options in the Cleveland area through several programs linked to the Honors College.
Opportunities for building community abound in the Mandel Honors College and we hope you take advantage of any and all of them!
