University Honors Program – Upper Division

Competitive applicants should be in the position to complete their honors degree requirements in their major in approximately two academic years. 

Mandel Honors College admits students to programs for the Fall semester only.

 

Application Deadline

Current College Sophomores: March 15th 

 

Admissions Criteria

Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:

• A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in all college-level coursework
• A rigorous curriculum overall in the major
• Commitment to completing honors work in the major
• Completion of 60 earned semester hours and no more than 90 by the by the end of the semester in which the student is applying
• Completion of most general education requirements by the end of the semester in which the student is applying

 

Application Checklist – EXTERNAL Upper Division applicants

• Apply online to Cleveland State University and indicate your interest in applying to the Mandel Honors College by answering the question on the CSU application: Are you interested in learning more about the Honors College?
• You will subsequently be prompted to submit the following supplemental materials:
  • An application essay (prompt will be provided). 
  • Two letters of reference are required. Applicants are encouraged to seek letters from reviewers able to comment on the student’s ability to complete honors-level work in their major.

Internal CSU students should check back in November 2024 for the internal application.

 

Note:

• Applicants to Mandel Honors College must be pursuing their first bachelor's degree. Students who already hold a bachelor's degree are ineligible for consideration.

• Mandel Honors College admits students to programs for the Fall semester only.
